College Algebra CLEP Test Description
The College Algebra CLEP test covers the information that is taught in
the one semester college course in College Algebra. This is the 2nd level
of math that you can CLEP out of. If you have a difficult time at math
or have limited experience, you would be better advised to start with
College Mathematics (always check with your advisor to see what CLEP you
need to take).
You will be tested on basic algebraic equations, quadratic equations,
inequalities, graphs, polynomials, exponents, real numbers, complex numbers,
logarithms, sequences and series and more. About 50% of the test covers
basic and routine algebraic problems. The remainder are non-routine problems.
It is important to understand that you do not have to answer each and
every question correct to get a passing score. You need to get 50 of 100
correct (in most cases) to pass. The people the write the CLEP tests want
you to know about half of the information to get a passing score.
